GOYETCHE, Richard J. - 50, St. Peter's, died Tuesday, October 26, 1999, suddenly in the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in Boston, Mass., he was a son of Stella (Harvey) and the late Elmer Henry Goyetche. Surviving are his mother, Stella, Watertown, Mass.; brothers, Paul, San Jose, Calif.; Michael, Nahant, Mass.; sister, Jeanette; brother-in-law, Gerry Hoffman; niece, Gina; nephew, Luke, all of America Canyon, Calif.; aunt, Valerie Goyetche, St. Peter's; several cousins in Canada and the U.S.A. Richard was a graduate of Boston State College and taught school in Georgetown, Mass. for several years. He later moved to Cape Breton, where he had deep roots and loved to be. His remains will be resting in the River Bourgeois Funeral Parlor on Saturday 2-9 p.m. with funeral on Sunday at
2 p.m. in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, River Bourgeois, Rev. Sandy MacNeil officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, St.Peter's. Donations in Richard's memory may be made to any charity.

MIDDLEBORO -- Doris M. (Goyetch) Dutra, 90, of Nemasket Apartments, died Sunday, April 27, 1997, after a long illness. She was the widow of John R. Dutra and daughter of the late Alexander and Cecile H. (Boudrot) Goyetch.
She died at Oak Hill Nursing Home.
He was born in Plymouth and lived most of her life in Middleboro where she was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.
For many years she was employed by Winthrop-Atkins Company of Middleboro as a photo finisher.
She was a member of the Sodality of Our Lady and the Middleboro Senior Citizens where she enjoyed line dancing and bingo at the Leonard Simmons Council on Aging Multi Service Center of Middleboro.
Survivors include a son, William L. Johnson of Stoughton; a daughter, Phyllis M. Farley of Middleboro; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Church, Centre St.
Arrangements are by the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak St.

Anita (Goyetche) Fougére, 96, passed away at home in the Saint Anne Community and Nursing Care Centre in Arichat, N.S. on July 13, 2008, with her daughter, Shirley, and granddaughter, Lorna, by her side. All family members are so thankful to Shirley for having been there for her and for having dedicated so much time to our mother's care and comfort over these past years. Born in Cap Auguet, May 12, 1912, she was the daughter of the late James and Maria (Boudreau) Goyetche. She was predeceased by her husband, Godfrey Fougère; brothers, Andrew, John, Raymond, Lorenzo, Gus, Francis; sister, Jeanne Richard, and grandson, Leslie. She will be sadly missed by her children, Shirley (Eldon), Leona (Amos), Alex (Lucille), Bishop Vernon Fougère, Robert (Anne). Left to mourn also her brother, Henry Goyetche, Everett, Mass., and 16 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren are left to cherish fond memories of mémé and grand-mémé, who took great pride in their every accomplishment. At the advanced age of 96, she would still ask how someone did in hockey or baseball, or other activities they were engaged in. She was so proud of each and every one of them. We are also so thankful to the staff and volunteers of Saint Anne's and the doctors for the excellent care provided to our mother. We also want to thank the other residents who made her stay at Saint Anne's enjoyable. Thanks everyone May God bless you all

Bishop Fougere, a native of Petit de Grat, Nova Scotia, and a son of Godfrey Fougere and Anita Goyetche, was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Antigonish on May 31, 1969. After graduating from Saint Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, he did his theological studies at the Grand Séminaire de Montréal.
After three years service in Mount Carmel Parish in New Waterford and three years as pastor in Saint Louis Parish in Louisdale, our Bishop served seven years with the Diocesan Mission in Honduras.
During this time, he became fluent in Spanish and became acquainted with the issues of the Church in Latin America. While ministering in Honduras, he served on the Council of Priests for the Archdiocese of Tegucigalpa. While there, he carried out extensive work forming Delegados de la Palabra (Ministers of the Word).
After studies at the Jesuit Theological Union at University of California, Bishop Fougere served in Saint Joseph's Parish in Bras d'Or and Saint Augustine's in Sydney, Nova Scotia. He was appointed Vicar General and Director of Pastoral Services for the Diocese of Antigonish in 1988. He was the first priest to serve in this position as director of all pastoral service for the people of the diocese. He served and was Chair of the Council of Priests of the Diocese of Antigonish and member of the Board of Governors at Saint Francis Xavier University
On December 11, 1991 Pope John Paul II appointed Joseph Vernon Fougere as the twelfth Bishop of Charlottetown, and he was Consecrated and Installed at St. Dunstan's Basilica, on March 19, 1992.
He has been a member of the National Council of the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace (1992-1995), the Social Communications Commission (1993-1996), the Episcopal Commission for Christian Education (since 1999), and was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Catholic Mission in Canada (2000).
