GOYETCHE, Raymond Wilfred age 75 years of Dartmouth passed away peacefully February 23, 2016 at Parkland Enhanced Care in Halifax. Born in Halifax he was a son of the late Wilfred and Mary (Arsenault) Goyetche. He is survived by siblings Arthur, Gerald, Clarence and Shirley Anderson. A private family service will be held at a later date. Donations in Raymond’s memory can be made to any charity. Arrangements entrusted have been entrusted to Dartmouth Funeral Home, Queen Street. It is with sadness and yet a sense of peace that we announce the passing of our Mom, which occurred on February 15, 2016 at Ivany Place Extended Care Facility in Bedford. Born in Cape Auget, Cape Breton on May 7, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Emily Ann (Decoste) Goyetche. Mom was a devout Catholic, loved life and lived it to the fullest. During the mid-1940’s, she served the communities of Isle Madame and the surrounding areas as a mid wife until the opening of St. Anne Hospital in Arichat. Surviving are her children, Margaret Stone, Veronica Cogswell (Steve), both of Halifax, Paul (Verna), Antigonish; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and also many younger friends. Besides her husband Raymond, she was predeceased by her son, Gerald and daughter-in-law Joyce; sister, Louise; brothers, Clarence, Godfrey, Wilfred, Delore and Arthur. Cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be held in Our Lady of Assumption Church in Arichat, March 7th at 10am with Rev John DeCoste officiating. Committal in Our Lady of Assumption Parish Cemetery, at a later date. The family would like to send a Special thank you to her special angels in Periwinkle Cove, Ivany Place for the tender loving care over the past 6 years. A heartfelt thank you to all the staff for the dedication and compassion you have shown to our family. Memorial donations can be made to the charity of your choice. CORNELL, Gary - It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband and father on Wednesday, October 28th, 2015 in his 63rd year. Survived by his loving wife Elaine (Goyetche), children Jennifer, Andrew (Alyssa) and Jeffrey. Also survived by his siblings Wayne Cornell (Karen), Patricia Warren (Brian) and Bonnie Moir (George). Also loved by his in-laws Linda Phares and Raymond and Julie Goyetche. Much loved Uncle Gary to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Harold and Kay Cornell. Gary lived his life with humour and humility. He was the long-time co-owner/operator of Cornell Meats. Gary touched the lives of many, but none so deeply as his family, and he will be forever cherished. Arthur Raymond Goyetche, 96, passed away at the Taigh Na Mara Long Term Care Home in Glace Bay on Oct. 22, 2015.
Born in Cape Auguet, Richmond County, he resided in Sydney and West Bay for a number of years.
He was the son of Jeffrey Arthur and Emily Ann ( DeCoste) Goyetche.
Arthur enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy and served in the North Atlantic for several years aboard the HMCS Digby, HMCS May Flower, and the HMCS Oakville before being discharged in 1945. He then attended Business College in Halifax and subsequently secured employment with Veterans Affairs where he worked for 35 years, serving as manager of the Cape Breton District Office toward the end of his career.
Arthur was a life-long member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 47, St. Peter’s and a member of the Cape Breton Naval Association.
Arthur enjoyed life to the fullest, travelling extensively and making friends wherever he went. He was a true gentleman whose, charm and positivity, impressed all who knew him. He was predeceased by his first wife, Marie Chaisson, and by his second wife, Ialeen Hopper, twin brothers Godfrey and Clarence, Wilfred, Delore, Mary Louise, and a sister in infancy.
Arthur is survived by his sister Ida Stone; sons, Brian (Christena), West Bay, Aubrey (Clara), Sydney, James (Teresa), Halifax. He was Papa to granddaughters, Janine Goyetche, Corinne Baker (Ryan) and Sarah Goyetche; grandsons, Robbie and Derek Goyetche; great-granddaughter Camrynne Baker.
In celebration of Arthur’s life, a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 2 p.m. in St. Margaret’s Roman Catholic Church, West Bay Road, N.S. with Fr. Callistus Abazie officiating.
Cremation has taken place. Internment will take place at a later date.
