Came to Cape Breton sometime before 1793.

According to Sister Eliza Angelique Goyetche, of the Filles de Jesus, her great grandfather, Jean Goyetche, came from Bayonne, France. She indicated it was believed he was at St. Pierre & Miquelon for a time before coming to Cape Breton. He may also have sojourned near Louisbourg (or Sydney) before coming to Arichat.

Petition of "John Goodish" in 1808 states that he had resided at Arichat for fifteen years and had seven children. PANS, Calendar of Cape Breton Land Papers 1787 - 1843.
